On 30 June-1 July 2016, the Third Black Sea Winemaking Forum was held in Sochi (Russia)

Placed under the high patronage of the OIV, this event was put on within the framework of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), of which Russia assumed the chairmanship in 2016.

It gathered together about 150 companies and more than 400 individual participants from the vitivinicultural sector: wine producers, distributors, retailers, oenologists, wine experts, heads of the national associations of the winemakers and sommeliers from more than 20 countries.

During a conference organised on the theme of prospects for cooperation (both technical and economic) in the vitivinicultural sector all around the Black Sea region, the Director General of the OIV, Jean-Marie Aurand, gave a presentation of the major trends in vitiviniculture on a global scale – with a particular focus on the main developments in consumption and its recent evolutions.

The exhibition and wine companies presentations were organized as part of the Forum, they brought together about 70 companies.

«The Black Sea Wines 2016» competition-rating was held on the sidelines of the Forum. Winemaking companies from 11 countries did take part in the contest.

which consist of the conference, exhibition,
presentations and master classes. 

The Competition and the Ratings
“Black Sea Wines 2016”
will be held on the sidelines of the
III Black Sea Winemaking Forum.

The Forum is devoted to the forecasts and the analysis of the main trends in the wine market sector in the Black Sea region. The Forum will focus on the international and national consumer trends and innovative marketing strategies, as well as on the international cooperation mechanisms and the new trends in the development of enotourism.

The participants of the Forum will have an opportunity not only to work at the conference, but they will get acquainted also with the products of the winemaking and related companies participating at the exhibition to be held in parallel with the discussion sessions. “The Black Sea Wines 2016” wine competition and ratings will be held on the sidelines of the Forum.

The Forum is a prestigious and growing platform for the networking opportunities for the owners and top managers from winemaking companies, as well as for the wine importers, distributors and retailers, suppliers from the related industries, heads of the wine associations, market analysts, wine critics, experts and marketing specialists. It is also a suitable place for the contacts between the participants of the market and the representatives of the state authorities, responsible for the regulation and the development of the sector. The market risk in our turbulent region is very high, but now there are new growing market possibilities to implement the most ambitious projects at lower price.

The Forum is organized in the framework of the 2016 official program of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Organization. The Forum is held also on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC. Exhibition-presentation of the companies - partners of the Forum will be also presented to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and official and business delegations of the BSEC countries.

The OIV delegation led by Director General Jean-Marie Aurand will take part in the Forum.

Themes and Program

Basic Theme of the Forum: The Development of the Regional International Cooperation Mechanisms in the Vitivinicultural Sector. “The Regional International Cooperation” notion has two meanings in the context of the Forum’s discussions: the first is the cooperation between the winemaking market actors from the Black Sea region countries; the second is the cooperation between wine regions of the different countries of the region. The Black Sea Winemaking Forum will be focused on both directions.
